Our Story
Ken Shi
It all started in 2009 with me, Ken Shi, working as a Barista at a well-known coffee roaster in South Auckland. I also got involved with the roasting of the coffee as well as repairing coffee machines.
Aoraki Coffee was established in 2017. From 2018 to 2022, we consistently received Silver and Bronze awards at the Melbourne International Coffee Awards . And also from 2018 to 2022 we received multiple Silver and Bronze awards at The Golden Bean Awards.
I am also the 2017 NZ Cup Taster Champion and am a National Barista Competition judge as well as a National Latte Art Competition judge since 2017 and continue to this day.
I also became a certified Q Grader in 2024.
Basically I love all things about coffee and love sharing, educating, and supplying the best tasting coffee to New Zealanders.
The team received several awards for the coffees roasted there and I am proud to have been part of that team. I learned a lot from there and when the opportunity arrived for me to go on my own I was a skilled Barista, Taster and Roaster.
